Why does your skin need exfoliating and/or moisturising?
A common skincare mistake is either over-exfoliating or forgetting to exfoliate altogether. Your skin can end up dry and flaky, lotions sit on the surface without sinking in, and ingrown hairs and a dull complexion start to appear. Sound familiar? Yep… 🧴
No 1: Exfoliation
Exfoliating removes dead skin cells from the surface, making way for new skin. This helps your skin breathe and absorb moisturisers, and gives hair a clear path out of the follicle. Once your skin is smooth and hair-free after sugaring, new fine hairs look for their way out. Regular exfoliation guides them to grow up towards the surface, which helps prevent ingrown hairs – and inflammation, because the hair doesn't get trapped under the skin.
No 2: Moisturising
Exfoliation alone isn't enough – don't forget to moisturise. Moisturising is just as important as exfoliating: without moisture, skin loses its elasticity and can become rough and itchy-dry. Moisturise regularly to keep your skin soft and supple, which also makes it easier for hair to grow outwards.
